CrossBridge Community Church is a large church located in San Antonio, Texas. They currently have many ways to connect with each other and their community, but their website needed a fresh, new look. In the words of their pastor, he wanted something “light and bright.” It needed to be welcoming to new visitors and easy to navigate. In addition to making a great user experience, it also needed to be easy for CrossBridge to manage their site themselves.
The Discovery Phase and Site Migration
We started out with a Discovery Phase. A Discovery Phase is foundational in creating a strategy so we can move forward with a project. Together with CrossBridge, we needed to outline project goals, identify functionality, and define the project scope.
CrossBridge was originally using Joomla as their CMS. We converted their site to WordPress and customized the Maranatha theme (from Church Themes) using their branding. We installed BeaverBuilder so they could update and manage everything with minimal or no support. At this point, CrossBridge was confident they could takeover updating their site.
The Design and Development Phase
After CrossBridge made some significant improvements on their own, they reached out to us again as they needed help in making the site look great. Our emphasis at this point was on content and usability. We wanted their site to be flexible, expandable, and easy to update with images and content. We helped them determine what resources were no longer needed and made an attractive and easy way for people to find what they were looking for. BeaverBuilder was still used for anything they’d need to update, but we also used a fair bit of custom code in building templates and for those finishing touches.
Some of the landing pages have an easy layout to help the user quickly find what they’re looking for. There’s a photo and summary of what they’ll see if they click on the link. This prevents one from guessing what’s on a specific page or from having to scroll through a bunch of content to get to what they’re looking for.
We really enjoyed working with CrossBridge!
They’re happy to have a new site that looks “crisp and clean.” They like the new layout and that there are no difficulties navigating the site. They also love the flexibility with BeaverBuilder. Since launching the new site, they’ve been able to make updates and changes to the site with minimal support from us.
“Tanner’s team [was] a pleasure to work with from day 1. They always made us feel like they were on top of our project, and would always respond immediately to any concerns or questions we had along the way. Thankful for their efforts in creating a site that is not only beautiful, but extremely functional and versatile across all platforms.”
